Wazup?

Hi everyone, wow life sure is crazy. Ever get that feeling that this is not real?? Ya, well I have had that most of the time the past week or so. Oh, well luch is sife. Really everything is going very well, some of the kids that we thought were going to have to get put in an orphanage have told us that their parents are reconsidering, so that is Awesome!! School starts in one week, so we are getting in all the things that we want to with these kids before its back at the books. I did some caving with a friend of mine the other day. He had never been in a cave before so it was a good experience for him. Well, I will try to post later on. I need to go. Keep the Faith.

One World

So what about world peace??? It seems to be the fad among people of my age; teens, young adults, but what are the realities!!! The Bible says blessed are the peacemakers, but is the UN really a peace maker?? living in Europe and having been to many of Europe's nations, I have a first hand, yet outsiders view of EU tactics, including peace keeping, but, I do not like what I see. Peace should not be bought by the sacrifice of freedom. There is a peace that only comes from war. -First Knight. I think that Louis L'amour sums it up in his book Fair Blows the Wind "It is all very well to wish for peace, but while there are such people as this... there will always be wars. A man can convince himself that others want peace as much as he, but he will only be fooling himself, for it is the last thing that many men want...unless they can take all they covet without having to fight." So seek peace, and pursue it, but don't sacrifice the eternal on the altar of the immediate.

Wednesday

I wrote this a while ago and thought you all might get like it. Keep on for the Savior!!

The Collaboration of Clothing

Clothing is essential. This well known fact is obvious to most, yet to others, the pursuit of clothing, not the clothing itself, is the primary focus of life. Everyone has a clothing preference, it’s only natural, but sometimes, the urge to splurge can get a little out of hand. If you see yourself falling into one of the following clothing-worshiping categories, better do yourself a favor and change your act quick. Your fashion is not only damaging your image, but your bank account as well.

First, and most abundant, we find the “Faddist,” they crave whatever’s “in the now” regardless of color, style, or cost. This clothes junky is the friend you have, who seems to live at the mall. Oh, they’re “only trying to fit in!” Yes, but this “fitting in” not only consumes their time and resources, but also is a never-ending cycle which offers no hope of fulfillment.

Secondly, the color-loving “Islander” comes to our attention. You see them everywhere! They, like the “Faddist” don’t care what type of clothing they buy, yet it must be colorful. It seems that their supreme goal in life is to have others mistake them for a yeti-sized parrot! The “Islanders” have no sense of matching or dressing for the occasion; all they care about is having more colors on then anyone else, at any given time!

Next, we move to the orderly “Scientist.” They couldn’t give a rip about fashion, although they do have a color preference, and cost is their main concern. They fly into a rage when their favorite outfit goes up by five cents, but it doesn’t really matter because they rarely buy new clothing. Most people agree that the “Scientist” one day sat down; picked a color, clothing style and model; bought about twenty outfits of this “practically perfect in every way” outfit; and then declared himself set for life!

Now into our critical spotlight steps the powerful “Athlete” always dressed for action. They do care about fashion to a small extent, but function is their primary concern. They eternally believe that an athletic disaster is about to strike; whether it be at church, a yard sale, or a formal dinner; and dress accordingly. Never seen wearing a business suit or other restrictive clothing, the “Athlete” needs to change his focus and get a better look at reality.

After turning around one-hundred and eighty degrees we see the well-known “Businessman.” Unfortunately, this rigid character is the total opposite of both the “Athlete” and the “Islander” as he dresses in nothing but drab. Always seen wearing black, dark blue, or grey, I would venture to say that the “Businessman” would walk through a mud puddle on purpose just to cleanse his socks of that bright, horrid, color known as white! If this stickler ever wore anything but formal attire, the person who saw it must no longer be in the land of the living.

Last, but certainly not least, in swings the courageous “Tarzan.” This down-to-earth fellow seems to think that he is related to a bush! He never dresses in colors not naturally found side-by-side in nature, and his clothing is always loose and leafy. His shirts and even his shoes are an earth-friendly sixty-seven percent biodegradable. This sunny individual seems to think that by wearing the earth, he is heroically saving it.

Hopefully, you now have a more rounded understanding of several of the many clothing personalities. Have fun cleaning out your closet!

Dreams of cold!!!!

Well, it is boiling out and I do not think that I have ever posted this picture before. My family always builds one huge sculpture every year, but with this past winter being the Vancouver games and all we really did it good. So here our tribute is to Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott the greatest snowboarder ever, and a fellow Mainer. Yes, that is me next to "Gort and his dog Katahdin Dug" And no, the dog was my brother's idea not mine. Warning: making large sculptures could result in freezing cold hands!! HA HA, but with the 38 C degree weather outside I could use some ice at the moment!!

What are we thinking

With a population half the size of the USA, Nigeria is the eighth most populous country on the planet. Over fifty percent are Muslim, yet freedom of religion is prevelant. Ask yourself, how many missionaries have you met who are going to Nigeria?? For every 1 person in my home state of Maine who needs to hear the Gospel, 152 need to hear it in Nigeria (facts taken from the CIA World Factbook). Maybe we need to get our eyes off our own selves, our own country, and look to the fields. It is impossible to have an intense burden for the far off and not have one for your next door neighbor, but by experience I have seen that many have a burden for their loved ones etc. and not for the vast billions of the far flung nations. America has 97% of the world's preachers and 3% of the world population, obviously something is out of whack. "Why should so many hear the Gospel again and again when so few have never heard it once?" -Oswald J. Smith

Request

Well, sorry that I have not posted in forever. Some things are more important. I have a request of all of you out there in cyberspace: Please pray for the Ireland family, they are missionaries in norther Ukraine and on the 18 of May there 20 year old daughter, Carissa, died in a kayaking accident off the coast of Portalnd, Maine along with a friend of hers that was adopted from an orphanage in Ukraine. Carissa had just finished her first year at Pensicola Christian College and wanted to get a degree in child education so she could come back here and do missions work. I know God has a plan, but pray that he will help us see it. I have know the Irelands for the last decade, although I have been out of contact with them recently. If you want to know more about the issue the Portalnd Press Heralnd has a long arcticle about it: www.pressherald.com/news/young-women-die-in-very-cold-bay_2010-05-18.html Thanks for the prayers.

Wednesday

"No, they are not a just a figment of evolutionary thought; they really existed!!! God has so many things that he created for us to know and enjoy, but we have so destroyed his creation because of sin. Imagine something as simple as living our lives in total surrender to Him, what a joy filled life!!! How can we ever doubt a God whose hands hold this universe?? Somehow we think that doing things our own way is better, happier, whatever, but, why?? How do we not understand his grace and love; only wanting the best for us. Why do we throw it back in his face and continue on our self-righteous way??" -excerpt from: "In the Footsteps of Unknown Heroes"

This is the Day

Well, I know that I have not posted for real in a while; but, that's life. I have been doing good, but had a hard day. Please pray for the ministry here in Ukraine. We have had some problems in the church recently. God is greater. All they that live Godly shall suffer persecution, right??? If the Devil is not making a problem, then we are not really making a difference. God is good, and his way is best!!! Thank you Jesus!!!

Faith

Legend has it there’s a study out there that says 90% of what we worry about never comes to pass. Whether that study is real or not, it’s most likely that this statistic holds in your life. How much of our lives do we miss because we’re agonizing over what might happen down the road? How often do we fail to act – even if it’s the right thing to do – because we fear any number of possible consequences? Fretting over the future doesn’t solve any of those impending problems. It only paralyzes your actions of the present. It stresses you out, makes you mentally and physically tired, and saps all the fun out of what could have been another great day. Next time you start to worry about what might happen, think of this: You can prepare, but you cannot predict. So do what you can, and forget what you cannot.
