Dare
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those timid spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Teddy Roosevelt

Hi All, just letting you know that I am leaving for Germany in a few hours!! Coolhuh?? Ya my family and I are going to be with some Americans for the Holidays, so I f I do not get internet access befor the 25th have a totally wicked Christmas!!! Eat lots of food and junk (go for a run to burn it off) have tons of fun with family and friends, wish Jesus a happy Birthday, and do not forget why we are celebrating. Tell someone who does not know about jesus how to get saved, give more gifts then you could ever get, and remember our troops overseas. Ya, our spiritual troops overseas too!!! :) Have fun!!! And sorry to anyone I have not sent a card to yet, as you can see between Christmas, Dealing with stuff at church over the weekend, and taking a long excersion to Germany you just slipped through the cracks.
Courage is being able to go from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.

Devil?? "Brethren"?? Ice?? Cold??? Windburn?? Whatever, Who Cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, life is cool, seriously. We have been having really nice warm weather, but tons of mud. Ua mud!!! I'm talking, scrape your shoes off every 8th of a mile while running, mud; but thank God he cooled it off last Friday and yesterday I did my coldest run so far this year: -17, or -4 for those of you in the W. Hemisphere. Ya, it was an awesome, all be it, short 5.5 miler. Hey, serious running is the only kind, all others are joggers!!! The Creator made our bodies with amazing adaptivity!! The Devil has been attacking on all fronts, but hey, God is Bigger!!!!!!!!!! Please pray for my brother as he is going through a very hard spiritual battle right now. This morning we had a great victory at church!! Praise the LORD!! Last Saturday I taught our kids club and I taught Sunday school last Sunday too. Nothing like hands on training. Speaking of the cold, it started snowing last Saturday and kept going for six days straight and at the moment we have between 12 and 16 inches. Cool huh?? I got to go. Encourage yourself in the LORD!!!!!!

Really Back!!!
Well, there you have it, I guess now I have to post after posting that quote!!!! So, like what has been going on in my life for the past three months??? Since my last post I was in a wedding at the end of August, got a little sick afterward for a day or two. Next, my Mom's twin brother came to visit for eleven days at the end of September. That was totally cool, we had a great time and did some sight seeing in both Romania and here. In October I did a lot of stuff, although at the moment I can not remember anything specefic, (short term memory loss!! I hear it happens when you get old!!!) I did some climbing at the end of the month, cleaned up our garden and yard, and the other day the plow came. Obviously, I have been doing school and keeping the kids at church in line!!!! Also, A guy at church has been trying to cause some problems, but my God is BIGGER. And please pray for that kid name Eugene that I asked you to pray for in my last post, He sooo needs God and his saved father is not helping with that. Thank the Lord for All of the souls we have seen saved so far this year!!!! I can not wait for more!!!! Oh, ya and I turned old!! Eighteen, oh boy now I get to fill out my own long imigration form every time I cross a border. Which is all the time. By the way, please pray for all of us as we have all had a touch of the flu this past week. Right now it is freaky, All the schools in Ukraine are closed down and the police are not letting people across the state borders very easily. Almost everyone is walking around with face masks on and the village pharmacies were cleaned out for a few days, it is a Swine Flu scare. Things are getting better though, but I tell you, it is freaky going into a restaurant in the city and seeing all of the staff looking like they are about to go into surgury!!! Give me the Blood!!! We are being careful but reasonable, no fifty mile weeks for a while. Signing off. Don'ty worry I won't be gone so long this time!!!

Update... Finally!!!
Wow, I feel really out of it. Yes, I know I have not posted in like a month, but to put it in Maine terms,: I have been Wicked busy!!!!! I love it though, It gives me less time to do crazy stuff. Let's see, well I will not give you a full update @ the moment as I have to be at soccer practice in a few minutes, but life has been awesome. Praise the Holy Father three people from this village have accepted his Son as their Savior since I last posted!!! Normally the work in this area is very slow, but recently both the trials and the blessings have been picking up. At the beginning of the month I was able to help out and do some translating like I wrote about a while back. That was cool, and it was nice to be around some USAians. They were a real blessing to us as were the UA people that came from the Chercasa oblast. I got to spend some time with my friend Vinamin too, which was nice since I had not seen him for a while. At our last in city Bible study my friend Eugene almost got saved. please pray hard and fast for him, he all but asked Christ to save him, but he is not ready to give up some things in his life. Please pray that he will accept Christ before it is too late!!! I'll Talk to ya'll more later. Cast your nets on the other side!!!

No one Next, Please!!!!
Yes, I know, it is completely my falt. O man, I feel so bad. Well, not soooo bad. What am I talking about??! Guess!!! Yes, Jedidiah got hurt yesterday!!!!! If you want to live a safe life stay away from the Isbells!!! Yesterday evening he was playing Areech peech peech, a Ukranian game, and smacked into our cement covered house. No concussion but he bled pretty heavily and has some nice gashes on his forehead. Poor guy, he is taking it like a trooper. Obviously, he did not go to church this morning, so mom stayed home with him and I got to teach kids Sunday School. I love it. Please pray for a speedy recovery and that his fever would go down. Dad is doing better and my hand is almost all healed. Also, please pray for me as I am doing some translating for some Americans most of this week. I really like to translate, but after a few hours my brain can get a little sluggish. Especially in front of a big croud. Whatever, they would not know if I was saying the right thing or not anyway!!! I got to go. 10-4

Next in Line???
Thanks for all the prayers. They really are helping. Dude, it seems like it has been one thing after another the past month or so. Today at football ministry Dad was playing goal keeper, and... you guessed it, he broke his middle finger on the left side. I stayed at the terrain and finished while he and JJ went to the house to grab Mom and my first aid kit and then drove to the hospital. First, they picked up a lady from the church in case of need for translation into Ukranian (we have three different languages in this area) and then to the hospital in the thousand year old city 35k's north of us. Well, this being Ukraine there was abviously going to be a priblem some where in here right?? Yes, the hospital in Hotin could not do it so now they are on the way to Chernivtsi, the state capital. Please pray that all will work out good soon. Praise the Lord that a young man named Vitalic got saved last Thursday!!!! Sorry if the grammar and spelling in this stink!

Stuff & Life
Hi, All. OK, life is good. I cut my hand pretty badly after soccer ministry on Tuesday. It is doing better, but I am typing this with my left hand only. We have been in strong spiritual warfare lately. Last night had a new twist, but praise God for a good victory today. Yesterday morning we were able to start a new Bible study in the State capital. It is on for next week also. Please pray that it will grow, and someday turn into a church. I need to go. Pray that I would do well tomorrow, it will be my first run since I slashed my hand.

No hurling on the shell dude!!!
Hi everyone, I am good. Praise the Lord I got a stomach virus on Saturday, and am still getting over it. Now the whole family has it. I guess I am just a very generous person!! I did no get to go to church on Sunday, but had a good time watching pastor on the web site. I think we all got it from contaminated water from last year's flood stuff. Oh well, what is life without a little adventure?? Please pray for this kid named Eric. I invited him to church during one of our soccer outreaches a few weeks ago and he has been coming. Unfortunately he is going to live in Italy in Septmber, although he will be back next summer, so I only have until then to win him to Christ. Please pray for his Salvation. Logging off.

Going "RO"ing
So, sorry I have not posted lately; I have been really busy!! I really do not have time to post now as it is one AM here, but I just wanted to say that I am leaving for Constansa, RO in the morning and I'll probably not post for a few days. I can not wait to see a beach!!! Living here it is hard not having a beach after growing up in the No'east. Talk to y'all later!!!

Thursday, June 25, 2009
OK, the last few days I have been doing early summer stuff. The cherry harvest is coming in and even though we only have three large trees and a lot of smaller ones it is tons of work!! Yesterday I spent a while picking, as I will today also. Yesterday I got in about 8.5 liters. Not a lot but a good effort I guess. The tree that I was working on does not even look like it has been picked at all!!! I estimate that all together we have about 250 liters of cherries on our property.
Tuesday I did some study, ran, etc., and played almost three hours of soccer. Praise the LORD for everyone that came out. Between dad and I we were able to invite over a half a dozen new kids out to church and kids ministries. Please pray that they come out and are saved. This area needs true salvation so badly. Sometimes I can't get it off my mind.
I wrote some new verses to the B I B L E yesterday. In Romanian of course, I might post them later. My hair just got cut off, and although I would like to post more I am leaving for Romania in a few minutes, so I need to go. Talk to y'all later.

Life in the "Gravel Lane"
OK, I'll give you all a really quick update on the past few days of my life. Last night about 11:30 I got to go for a nice run, the stars were great, even if I did get chased by a few dogs, this morning I ran all the games at our kids ministries played some soccer this afternoon, worked around the house and yard, picked blue and white mullberries with my dad, went for another nice run in the hills behind our town, and studied. How is that for a run on sentence!! Please pray for me as I preach tomorrow morning. I should do Ok as long as I trust God and do not get nervous. Preaching in Romanian is not a problem for me unless I think that it will be, that's when I mess up. Pray that it goes well and the Lord is glorified. Today it was 46 in the sun!!!! That C by the way, or in other words about 115 F. Perfect weather to play soccer in. See Y later

A Week In the Work
Howdy everyone, wow I have been wicked busy!! Sorry to anyone I owe an e-mail to, I will write you just wait a little. I just got back from three hours of intense soccer, a nice workout to say the least. Please pray for all the kids we make contact with through this ministry, they need Christ so badly. The heat here has been brutal about 34 in the shade most days. I went out for a ten mile run yesterday, in about 31 degree weather, and felt like an absolute whimp after looking at my watch!!! Running hills in the heat is awesome, it's kind of like putting tons of hot sauce on a burger, it kills, but it's addicting!!
Saturday our ministries went well and I was able to go for a nice run in the woods with my dad in the afternoon. Sunday was good with lots of visitors and a good crowd all around. I had to go down in the afternoon and cut the grass at church as it rained on Friday and Saturday. For the first time ever I was able to do most of it with a weed eater instead of a scythe. Praise God for the elec being on most of the time now!! For those of you who use easy stuff ike lawn mowers etc. a scythe is a tool composed of a long wooden handel rounded at one end with a cross handel in the middle, having a three of four foot steel blade that is sharp enough to cut off your foot, used in backward countries. Seriously, my dad almost cutoff his thumb sharpeneing it last year. Iy may not be easy to use, but boy does it give you a good core workout!! We had volley ball for teens in the afternoon and were able to reach about 8 new kids with the Gospel, plus a lot of repeats. Pray for the work here.
Please pray for a man named Vitalic's father. Vitalic and his wife are saved, praise God, but his family is not. Last week Dad and I went fishing with Vitalic's Dad; at the moment his name escapes me, some missionary huh??; and both dad and I were able to get in a pretty good witness with him. He so needs Christ's salvation. By the way these are some of the pics from my preaching trip to Kiev, Chernivtsi, several places in the East. It was such a blessing to see four souls come to Christ and the Gospel spread forth. I forgot, last Thursday Dad and I took a short midnight trip to Romania to bring some frends to the airport. I could feel all your prayers at the border crossings. Praise God we had no problems and had a great time. Ukraine is nuts, out of the many countries I have been in it is the hardest to get in to. Every one I talk to says the same thing too. Bro. Sutek, the man who lead our preaching trip a missionariy in Romania, almost blew his top trying to come in through the border. He said it was harder to get into than Russia was ten years ago. Life in a 3rd world, communist wasteland. signing off

Keep on the Firing Line
I do not have a lot of time to post at the moment, but life is good, as always. My dad, brother, and I got to go fishing on Friday. No not that kind of fishing, the kind with worms and metal hooks. I am so blessed to have an awesome brother and dad who are a great joy to be around. We did not catch anything, but we had a good time. On Saturday we had a good kids ministry and in the afternoon my Mom and Dad went out while Jedidiah and I worked on my mom's secret garden. Also, yesterday we went fishinig again, with a friend, and we caught some fish to put in my mom's fountain. They look really cool!! Sunday was a blessing. Not many people were out, around 20, but the spirit was good and several visitors were there. Please pray for two people in the church, one is named Mrs. Alexandra, she is very healthy but 3 weeks ago she started having really bad nerve pain and is in the hospital at the moment. The other person is an older man named Leon,. He is not saved and is having problems with a growth in his neck, he really needs Christ. Talk to y'all later!!

Of Bumps, Cops, and Screaming Bible Thumpers
Yes, that would be me, well not screaming just heralding. Ya we got to Kiev safely in spite of a CRAZY navigator, ME!! We passed out several thousand tracts durring over four hours of street meetings today and two men got saved!! Do I hear a "Slava Domnului!!!"?? That's praise God by the way, I have internet access for a short time so I have to be brief, thanks for your prayers, I can feel them "across the kilometers"!! Bro. Demopolis is a very good missionary, faithful over here for the past 18 years!! We will be doing more of the same tomorrow plus regular church. Pics of our progress later on. Zdavia

Touring the East
Hi all. Sorry I have not posted the last few days, I've been working around the house and yard about twelve hours a day. I am leaving to go to Kiev tomorrow morning, and I am not looking forward to the nine hour trip on our 'awesome' roads!! Me and several other guys are going to do some street preaching. This is the maiden voyage for a new tract and banner that Bro. Sutek, a missionary in Romania, came up with. It is wordless but gives the whole Gospel by using drawings. Cool huh??!! We were going to go through Moldova, but like I implied a while ago, there is a problem going through the border, especially if you are Romanian like the guys who are going with us. Pray that we will have a good trip and reach a lot of folks with the Gospel. Oh ya, I am making my blog public, as I am sure you saw. It is easier and I can reach more people. By the way, check out my other blog sometime, http://www.runwithchrist.blogspot.com/ it is kind of different, but I like it. I'll be back on Tuesday night, so, till then: you only have one life, use it right!!!

Buttprints in the Sand
Buttprints in the Sand
One night I had a wondrous dream, One set of footprints there was seen, The footprints of my precious Lord, But mine were not along the shore.
But then some strange prints appeared, And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?" Those prints are large and round and neat,"But Lord, they are too big for feet."
"My child," He said in somber tones," For miles I carried you along. I challenged you to walk in faith, But you refused and made me wait."
"You disobeyed, you would not grow, The walk of faith, you would not know, So I got tired, I got fed up, And there I dropped you on your butt."
"Because in life, there comes a time, When one must fight, and one must climb, When one must rise and take a stand, Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

Driving
Getting on the Road in a few minutes. Pray that we are safe. By the way the reference for that last post was Genesis 15:1. You all are great
He Is the One
I Love going 160 in our Mercedes, It's sooooo sweet!!!!
Ok, I am in a hotel room in Budapest Hungary. Yes, I was supposed to be here on Tuesday night but it is a long story, short version: we stopped for the night on Tuesday at our friends the Castellaws in Hiedelburg De and had some really good fellowship, the next day we went to a castel on the way out and someone or thing broke our windshield while we were sight seeing, it is not totally broken but it had to be fixed. Yes, I know that was a run on sentence. Anyway, we are on the road back to UA and having a great time, you all should here some of the songs we compose and sing on the road!! Mabye I will post some later. The roads up until Ukraine are great so we always dread the trip back more than the trip out. Going there the roads get better ever country; going back the roads get worse every country!! Oh yea, the drivers do too!! Please pray for the situation in Moldova, I will tell you about it later. But missionaries over there need your prayers right now. Also we are having a problem with a preaching trip that we were going to take because of it. Pics are still not uploading, sorry. I have to go!! Stay in His will.

In the Land of the Windmill
Well, yesterday we hung out at the Green's house and then went to the base. Got some awesome American pizza and then played basketball for an hour. Won one and lost one. It's so nice to have other Christians around you, never mind the fact that they speak English!!! We were going to have a street meeting in Aachen last night but it got canceled by some circumstances. The castle we went to was cool though. Not real big, but nice and fancy compared to Ukranian ones. Church this morning was great!! Dad preached, in English for the 2nd time in 2 years, on "Do You Really Still Love God?." I sang "A Few Good Men" in a slap together quartet with my dad, Jonathan, Stephen, and Yours Truely. My "former friend" Jacob Green was trying to mess me up the whole time by making faces etc. I guess I'll forgive him someday!!! Praise the Lord for these missionaries doing a great work with these Military and German people. We went to a USAF base in Belgium in the evening and had a great service there. I am not supposed to say what the base is for, but it is very high security!!! Cool stuff!! After the service we went over to the missionary pastor's house and had some really good fellowship. Please pray for the Harrises as they are getting older and can not serve God as good physically as they want to.

A Zombie!! (spelling)
Well, I do not love this template, but I did not have time to make a better one. Since it is no longer winter and I do not want it to BE winter I thought it might help the weather if I changed it. Makes sense right?? Today we are going to a NATO base not far away and then going to find some castle in Holland. Talk to you all later.

Near Holland
Germany has been good. Figures, last time we were here I brought winter stuff,. You know wolf fur line ski coat, boots the whole deal. Well, it was hot almost 25 everyday. So, this time I brought mostly summer clothes, and... you guessed it. It has been cold, more or less, around 10 or so. Oh, I forgot, on the way to Germany we took a small detour and went through Saltsburg, (spelling??) Austria. It was so beautiful!!! We had a snow ball fight, saw where Motzart was born, walked around some of the places where The Sound of Music was filmed and got in to our place in Germany at 5 in the morning. Runing here is awesome. The hills are wicked steep and there has been fog almost everyday so you feel like you're in a midevil world. I went for a 7 mile run on Tuesday and ended up going for 11. But I loved it. It is so easy to worship when your are all alone and using your body to serve God. The flesh does not like it, but it works. Yesterday we drove to Aachen, near Holland but still in Germany, and are staying here until Sunday. Being around Americans is great!! We even got to go to Chile's the other day!!! Ya, there is one on Ramstien, the largest Air Force Base in DE. I got to go to two services of a missions conference last week . The Lord really moved. One of the men who has been coming to the church since March asked to be washed. He meant baptised. He gave his testimony of his mother leading him to Christ when he was a kid and how he came to Germany later. Did I mention that he is from Iraq??? Cool huh?? God can work anywhere. I need to go. We have five laptops going at the same time playing a flight simulator. I need to kill some F-16's. I can not stand Lockheed!!!! Go General Electric!!!! I'll put some pics on later, it is at working at the moment
Gone
Yes, I know the whole world is looking for me, and going into shock because I have not updated my blog even though I do VERY faithfully. Right?? LOL Believe it or not I am back in Germany!! Ya well we had to come back out for my mom to go to the doctor for a follow up visit to last month. I have been out here for a week and have not used the computer for the whole time. Praise God we are doing fine. A few days before we left I was playing that game with my brother where he swings on his swing and pretends to hit my. So I go flyinging like a Kamaza hit me. Oh, ya, a Kamaza is a big Soviet truck. Anyway, I played with him for a while and then said that was enough, well he did not think so, so he hit me for real, really hard. I went down like a sack of potatoes and landed on a cement pad. Wow, I am still in a little bit of pain , but praise God I did not break anything, just bruised a few bones. Please pray for the church in Ua while we are gone. we have a lot of young Christians who are still weak.

One More Sheep
Praise God a middle aged man named Valarie got saved last night!!! He has been coming for a while but every time one of us talks to him about Salvation he makes excuses, etc. But last night Dad asked him if he wanted to believe, and he just prayed all on his own. Praise God!!
The rest of life has been good. Sorry I have not updated in a while. I'll give you all a better update later, but right now I have to get back to school. Thanks for the prayers. Hey Elisabeth, who broke their wrist??
By the way Todd. Sorry to hear about your dad. I just found out about it a few days ago. We have been praying for him and your whole family. Hope he feels better soon!! :)

Back Soon
I'm still in Germany. I think we are leaving on Thursday. The trip has been really good, and busy. I had a really good time hiking all day Saturday with some friends on the Holland-Germany border. Sunday I got to witness to a guy from central Africa. He came to church and dad was talking to him and mentioned that I am into running, wow, that got him talking. He opened right up and loved that I knew all about central Africa their, best runners and he LOVED that I know some Swahili!! Please pray for him. No I do not know his name as he would not tell me. Germany has a lot of people who live here illegally and can not say who they are or where they are from because the government will kick them out. He did not even tell me where he was born, just that he had llived in Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uguanda, Zambia, and DCR. Running here is awesome!!! Tons of hills and the weather is great!!!! It's nice to be around westerners again. Dad preached at a church in Hiedelburg last Thursday and the spirit was great. Hearing him preach in English was very strange as he has not in over two years. It did not seem like the same person. Most of our doctors appointments are over and the Mercedes is finally registered so it can come in to Ukraine. Thanks for your prayrs. See y'all later!!

Hi, or Bye, as the case may be. We leave in the morning and come back in about two weeks. It should prove a cool trip. Our whole family has not been together in Germany at the same time [other than airports] since 2004. Please pray for us!! Talk to y'all when I get a chance!! Oh ya please pray for me personally. I hurt my I-T band a few weeks ago on our Awesome roads, and though it is healing and I can still run [wicked slow!!! for me] I want it to get better faster. Thanks!!

Hey Ya'll
Life has been nuts, I still do not have a lot of time to blog or e-mail. I did some nice mountain biking this morning. Also today I went to a Christian drama conference for working with teens [this morning] and we had church and the Lord's Supper this evening [praise the Lord for a good service.] Yesterday, I clocked out 10 mi's of running and our family all went to a friends house for dinner. And yes, I am getting school done in the mist of all this!! Monday we leave for a trip to Germany!! Tomorrow morning I have to go to a family conference. Hey, listen to this, yesterday it was in the sixtys, today we had a white-out, now it is warm again!!! At least it is good for sap collecting. Yes, I know this post is choppy and has bad grammar, but I am on the move. God is sooo wonderful!!! Talk to you all later!!! :)
